Manly Bombers U11’s were given a huge boost this week before heading into the finals with a visit from Geelong and now GWS legend Stevie Johnson. Promoter Andrew Varasdi said “ what better way to prepare the U11’s for finals than a good old fashioned Pie night and a visit by a legend.
Stevie J turned up to training during the U11 warm up and then took on a drill for the second half of training, with all U11 players getting the opportunity to work through the drill with the current GWS legend. After training Stevie J addressed the players on the field and gave them some valuable tips before heading up to the clubhouse for a casual chat with the players while enjoying hot dogs and sausage rolls. (That’s right no pies, the only pies were Ryan “Daicos” Jackson and Andrew Stone).
About 40 players and 20 adults listened intently as Andrew casually chatted with the AFL legend, followed by some hard-hitting questions from the young playing group.
Stevie J then hung around for a chat with the parent group and a few photo opportunities.
A big thanks for Stevie for coming along on the night and a big thank you to Andrew and Jacquie Varasdi for organising the event and for all those who helped make the night a success.
