I hope you are enjoying our very hot summer and the last weekend before school goes back. A warm welcome to the Manly Bombers for season 2017. We really appreciate your support. A special welcome to the new players and their families. This is a family Club and I’m sure you will enjoy being part of it.
The beginning of the season is fast approaching, with some age groups starting preseason training next week while the remainder will be receiving an email soon from their age group coach advising them of pre-season arrangements. We are still waiting to hear from the new Council on pre-season training venues but as soon as we do details will be put on our website and TeamApp (see link below)
Once the season begins, training will move to our Home Ground of Weldon Oval. Coaches and Team Mangers will be your main point of contact at the club, however we also push information out via our social media so please be pro-active and use any of the following:
Manly Bomber Pre-season Training Singlet
We will be outside the Bendigo Bank in Freshwater on Saturday 4th and 11th of Feb from 10am to 2pm. Please come down and pick up your free singlet from our sponsor CODE5 Gym. (excluding Auskick players)
Mike Pawley has also sponsored us this year and has given us some vouchers to use when buying your football gear. It’s also a great opportunity to speak to people involved at the Club including some of the coaches.
We will also have Football Shorts & Socks for sale and other merchandise.
There are many small roles that need a parent to look after so please let me know if you can help. We are in need of a Head of Team Managers, Umpire Ambassador and a Girls Football Manager. None of these roles requires a huge amount of time but they are roles that must be done.
Girls U12 Team-
We are looking for 10, 11 & 12 year old girls to make up a new team in 2017 and will be announcing a “Come & Try” date soon.
Round 1 (of 16) is being played on Sunday 2nd April (Round dates are on the Website but not game times. A full fixture will not be available until mid-March.
If you haven’t registered yet, please do so via our website.
Each player is given a Manly Bombers Guernsey for the season. Guernsey’s are a major expense for the Club so please return them at the end of the season. They will be given out at a presentation by the Coach prior to the season start.
Shorts & Socks will be available for purchase at pre-arranged pre-season training sessions so please look out for those dates. Shorts cost $20 and socks $15.
Our Home ground is Weldon Oval and our Junior teams U9 to U12 and Auskick play Home games next door on Frank Grey and Mike Pawley Ovals.
Parent involvement -
As is always the case with children's sport, its success depends upon the contribution made by the parent group. I encourage you all to seize the opportunities available to you to help out your team. I totally understand that everyone has individual circumstances and demands throughout the year, and some may not be able to contribute the same as others.
We have recruited the Coaches for almost every team but we are looking for parents / grand parents or siblings to volunteer to become the teams Team Manager, Ground manager, First Aid, Runners, Umpires and every team requires one of each. The club will supply the training for each of these roles.
We will also need you to do a shift on both Canteen & Ground Management Duty during the year.
The canteen is a great service we provide but also a revenue source which helps to reduce our membership fees.
Note- If you are rostered on duty and cannot attend, it is your responsibility to replace yourself. Failure to do this will create a problem for those at the game and you will be letting your team down.
I look forward to meeting you all over the coming weeks. Please come up and say hello
