Player of the Week – Ted Chapman (U9 Phantoms)
2019 marks Ted's first year at the Manly Bombers and his first year playing AFL - and he absolutely loves it!
Ted follows the Swans (his favourite team) and he has discovered that he loves playing up the front. At training, his favourite drill is tackle practice !
Ted is a natural athlete and loves all sports. He is a well-liked member of his team and gives his all every weekend on the field.
Congratulations Ted !!!
Player of the Week - Ruby Payne (U14)
This week I was asked to nominate a player from our team as the club's player of the week. It was serendipitous as I had just been reflecting on the team and in particular a player who's importance to the team is becoming increasingly obvious. I had no hesitation nominating Ruby Payne.
Ruby has evolved into a truly versatile player. With stamina and rapidly increasing kicking and marking skills, Ruby has been called upon to fill a number of roles as we’ve plugged gaps due to player unavailability.
Ruby has accepted each role without question and applied herself with vigor.
Having been stationed at the key position of half back in recent weeks Ruby has excelled under significant pressure! Her increasing ability to read the play, intercept mark, tackle, apply pressure and counter with hand and foot has been a huge asset and contributing factor to the team's overall success.
Ruby is popular with her teammates and show maturity on the field. She's always present, attentive and engaged at training; all playing a role in her very valuable on-field performances.
Ruby is an asset to the club. Well done Ruby and keep up the good work!
Being our Players of the Week they have won a free sausage sandwich or egg and bacon roll and a drink from the Club House canteen.
