Player of the Week – Jack Beverley (U13)
Jack Beverley has been a long time high performer in the U13 age group.
In 2019, he has taken his game to a new level from being a flashy forward with a strong lead, good high mark and a hunger for goals, to a valuable attacking midfielder with a very strong sense of the flow of the game.
He has demonstrated that when you follow AFL beyond the patch of grass you cover yourself and your own skill development, you develop a strong game sense.
When you develop a strong game sense you can increase your overall effectiveness significantly.
With this strong game sense, Jack combines his natural athleticism and silky skills with good decision making.
If he takes possession on the wing, he looks inboard for loose players and pinpoints them accurately. He handballs in all directions, knowing that a backwards and sideways handball can often be a better choice than simply handballing forward. He pre-empts the direction the opposition are looking to move the ball and positions himself accordingly to take intercept marks.
Jack is admired and respected by his teammates for the way he conducts himself on the field and the way he brings them into the game, inspiring them to raise their own standards.
Well done Jack!
Being our Players of the Week they have won a free sausage sandwich or egg and bacon roll and a drink from the Club House canteen.
